Uncommon Cups and Cones was established at 518 Vincennes Street, New Albany in October 2018. It closed briefly March 5, 2022 and re-opened under new ownership on June 1, 2022. Prior to being an ice cream shop, the building housed a consignment shop.
Kind of an unusual question, but people really do ask. No, we do not live upstairs. The shop is attached to the house that has been divided into apartments; however, the owners do not live there. The shop and the house have 2 different addresses.

We love parties! If more than half of your attendees will be getting our ice cream, then there is no charge to have the room. If you only want the room (no ice cream) or less than ½ of the attendees will be getting ice cream, then it is $25 per hour.
The Upper Room is ideal for small gatherings such as study groups, small club meet-ups, showers, birthdays and more! It will comfortably seat 15-18 people.

Contact us to check availability for your special date. No deposit is required, and you can cancel at any time prior to the date of your event. You may arrive up to 1 hour in advance to decorate. No glitter or confetti, please. You may bring in outside food and drink. You may purchase ice cream and any other products that we offer. We’ll work with you to figure out what you’d like to offer your guests.
Yes. We have indoor seating and will be open all year. Our hours may change based on seasonality. You can stay up to date with our hours on our website or Facebook page.
Yes. We have several options for catering events. Please contact us to learn more and check availability.
We change our ice cream flavors often and rotate in seasonal favorites; however, we do have many gluten free options and usually 2-3 dairy-free, Vegan options available. We do not have a sugar free option, but we try to keep at least one No Sugar Added (NSA).
Yes. Options include:
Spirit Nights: Local schools, teams, and groups can host a Spirit Night at Uncommon Cups and Cones. The Organizer coordinates and promotes the event then a percentage of the pre-tax sales will be donated back to the organization.
Ice Cream Socials: Host an ice cream social at a designated location where we set up a sundae bar (minimum purchase of 50 cups required), the organizer sets the price and anything over retail mobile scoop station cost goes back to the organization.
We give priority consideration to schools & 501(c3) groups in Floyd, Clark & Harrison Counties. Requests must be on company letterhead and include: organization name, contact name, number and email, tax ID #, summary of the organization, event purpose, event date, deadline to reply, type of donation requested, if we’ve donated before, how we’ll be recognized, and how it will be used and displayed. If approved, we'll contact you within 2 weeks to let you know and how/when to pick it up.
Yes. Gift cards can be purchased in the shop for any amount ($5 minimum).

We hire based off of business need and seasonality. We typically start the interviewing process around April or May. Working nights and weekends during our busy season is required.
