Uncommon Cups and Cones was established at 518 Vincennes Street, New Albany in October 2018. It closed briefly March 5, 2022 and re-opened under new ownership on June 1, 2022. Prior to being an ice cream shop, the building housed a consignment shop.

Kind of an unusual question, but people really do ask. No, we do not live upstairs. The shop is attached to the house that has been divided into apartments; however, the owners do not live there. The shop and the house have 2 different addresses.

No. We proudly serve Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream (chocolateshoppeicecream.com) from Madison, Wisconsin. 

Yes! The Upper Room may be available for small gatherings of up to 15 guests during select non-peak times. 

Reservations are based on availability and are designed for birthdays, celebrations, and small group gatherings, such as book clubs, etc.

We recommend coming by and taking a look at the space to make sure it will meet your party needs.

Reservations are typically available during slower business hours and days of the week. We are unable to reserve The Upper Room during special events, peak business hours, or our busiest season (May–August).

The Upper Room is limited to 15 guests maximum. 

Additional guests cannot overflow into our downstairs seating area, as we want to ensure seating remains available for all guests visiting our shop.

Reservations are available in 60–90 minute time blocks for the party to allow us to accommodate multiple guests and gatherings. 

Organizers may arrive up to 1 hour prior to set-up.

Yes! We do allow outside food and drinks; however, this may take up additional table space needed for your guests. 

Yes! We have limited wall space available for hanging decorations; however, you can bring balloons and table decorations. 

Glitter and confetti are not allowed and may result in an additional clean-up fee.

The Upper Room may be reserved at no charge when more than half of your guests purchase treats from our shop. 

Room Rental Only
If you prefer to use the space without purchasing treats from our shop, The Upper Room is available for $75 per hour.

Yes. We have indoor seating and will be open all year. Our hours may change based on seasonality. You can stay up to date with our hours on our website or Facebook page. 

Yes. We have several options for catering events. Contact us for details and pricing.

We change our ice cream flavors often and rotate in seasonal favorites; however, we do have many gluten free options and usually 2-3 dairy-free, Vegan options available. We do not have a sugar free option, but we try to keep at least one No Sugar Added (NSA).

We review all requests; however, we give priority consideration to schools & 501(c3) groups in Floyd, Clark & Harrison Counties. Requests must be on company letterhead and include organization name, contact name, number and email, tax ID #, summary of the organization, event purpose, event date, deadline to reply, type of donation requested, if we’ve donated before, how we’ll be recognized, and how it will be used and displayed. If approved, we'll contact you within 2 weeks to let you know.

Yes, as of mid-March 2025, we have created a few new FUN-draising options. See the Fundraising tab on our site for more details. 

Yes. Gift cards can be purchased in the shop for any amount ($5 minimum).

We hire based off of business need and seasonality. When we are hiring, we typically start the interviewing process around April or May. Contact us directly to find out if we are hiring.

We want to work with individuals who are Team players that are self-motivated, thrive in a fun, fast paced environment and love serving and talking to people. This job is perfect for individuals seeking part-time extra income. Working nights and weekends during our busy season is required.
